Allegheny Insurance and Kaiser’s Coffee & Candy are the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Members of the Month in April. Amber Higgins, left, is a licensed property and casualty agent in the Philippi office of Allegheny Insurance. Joseph Kaiser III is the owner, along with his wife, of Kaiser’s Coffee and Candy, Inc.
Kaiser’s Coffee & Candy has been a locally-owned and family-operated business in Barbour County since 1995. It supplies coffee equipment and related products along with pre-packaged and bulk candy products. It features friendly and competent service with reliable delivery. The company maintains a two-week delivery schedule.
Owner Joseph Kaiser III was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and moved to Barbour County at the age of 15. Kaiser’s Coffee & Candy has long been a supporter of the local community, donating time and money over the years to help others. Owners Joseph and Melissa Kaiser service all of their accounts in a personal and friendly manner, they say.
The company offers fund-raising options with their line of candy products and accesses a large variety of bulk candy suitable for parades and other promotional events. The business is located at 1065 Point Pleasant Road and their telephone number is 677-1552; or go to kaiserscoffeeandcandy.com
Allegheny Insurance was founded more than 100 years ago by N. G. Keim and has since grown to become a responsible and stable insurance agency dedicated to its clients. The company’s two locations serve more than 10,000 individuals and businesses with a staff representing 181 combined years of professional experience in the insurance industry. Allegheny is located at 24 South Main Street in Philippi, telephone 457-2525 and at 104 Third Street, in Elkins, telephone 636-1680.
“Allegheny is unique,” says Higgins, “in that we are an independent agency which can shop insurance coverage among quality insurance carriers. We are also compartmentalized,” she says, “with specialists in personal commercial, life, health, and benefits. The sole responsibility of our dedicated claims representative is to assist insurers at the time of their loss. We follow each sale with prompt and personal service,” she says.
Amber Higgins is a resident of Philippi and native of Georgia. For the past 17 years she has prepared and reviewed collision estimates and handled claims. She volunteers at the Philippi Public Library, Barbour County Family Resource Network, and with Philippi Main Street. She is Vice President of the Barbour County Arts & Humanities Council and currently is helping with the revitalization of the Barbour Country Club.
