Mace’s Pharmacies and Country Blooms are the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Members of the Month for January.
Rich Mace, left, is a pharmacist and the owner of Mace’s Pharmacies in Belington and Philippi. Casey Hall is the co-owner of Country Blooms Florist and Gift Shop in Philippi.
“Mace’s Pharmacies are unique in many ways,” says Mace, “offering customized medication packaging for the last six years. “We work directly with the patient and doctor,” he says, “to design a plan that maximizes medication therapy. We place daily medication for each patient into individual packets that can be torn open and taken. Sometimes patients make mistakes when organizing their own pill boxes, from missing meds, or taking them at the wrong time or taking them together with another medicine which actually lessens the effects of therapy.
“We provide this service free of charge, which may allow patients to stay in their homes longer since in-home errors can lead to the requirement for assisted living,” Mace says. “Care-givers who come into the home often share the responsibility of taking care of loved ones. Our MacePack, individually labelled with the date and time medications are to be taken, assures that medications are taken and on time.”
Mace’s Pharmacies are located at 44 South Main Street in Philippi, telephone 457-4233, and at 204 South Crim Avenue in Belington, telephone 823-1001. Each offers prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, medication-flavoring, immunizations, and prescription drug counseling. Each location also offers a selection of gifts, Kodak Photo printing, greeting cards, drive-thru service, and other items one would expect in a pharmacy. Their website is www.macespharmacy.com
