Philip Barbour High School will be hosting a College Application & Exploration Week event, November 1-5, during which local businesses and organizations are invited to come on one day at lunch to provide information about employment opportunities.

Although it is the formal “College” Application Week in WV, some students are not planning on college or even a technical school and would like to go into the workforce.

Anyone who would like to participate in the event should complete a simple survey at https://forms.office.com/r/HqnhN8VPh6 to reserve a table or email school counselor Kim Burnett at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Snacks will be provided in the Counseling Complex in between lunches. Reservations must be made by October 29. The following days and times are available:

  • Monday, November 1, Setup at 10:30 and lunches from 11:06-11:36 and 11:57-12:27.
  • Tuesday, November 2, Setup at 10:30 and lunches from 11:06-11:36 and 11:57-12:27.
  • Wednesday, November 3, Setup at 10:15 and lunches from 10:45-11:15 and 11:31-12:01.
  • Thursday, November 4, Setup at 10:30 and lunches from 11:06-11:36 and 11:57-12:27.
  • Friday, November 5, Setup at 10:30 and lunches from 11:06-11:36 and 11:57-12:27.

 Tables will be provided (six feet in length) for the perimeter of the Commons (where students eat lunch) and down the Counseling Complex hallway. 

Another upcoming event is the "Future Ready" event on Thursday, November 18, from 5-9 p.m.  This is an evening for all post-secondary workforce leaders to visit with parents and students.  Financial aid help will also be available for college-bound seniors that evening at 7 p.m.
